3Cube, Inc. Announces PhoneCube, a Complete, Self-Service Conferencing Solution Via the Internet At a Highly Affordable Price.
BURLINGAME, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 2000
First 100% Web-Initiated Service Enabling Up to Eight Users to
Participate in Voice Conferences, View Online Presentations
and Annotate Documents Anywhere, Anytime
3Cube, Inc., an online communications and office productivity company, today announced PhoneCube -- a new multipoint audio conferencing and document sharing solution delivering high quality telephone connections managed over the Internet in real time.
"3Cube is the first company to offer a 100 percent Web-initiated IP-to-Telephone Network tool that integrates conferencing, document collaboration and text messaging all in one application," said Igor Neyman, president of 3Cube. "Other Internet communication providers just offer point to point PC-to-Phone connectivity or services that only allow access from specifically configured computers with installed software. With PhoneCube, users can now dynamically connect up to eight participants in an audio conference and then seamlessly expand into a fully interactive online document presentation by using a Java-enabled browser without any software or plug-ins to download."
PhoneCube's easy-to-use, Web browser-based user interface (UI) allows participants to view, annotate and mark up documents in real time, while delivering remote presentations alongside a live audio conference. Users also have the ability to save annotations and original presentation slides in the convenient PDF format. PhoneCube's "self-service" functionality enables users to quickly schedule, initiate, and manage phone conferences without operator assistance in just a few mouse clicks.
PhoneCube supports more than 40 document formats for interactive presentations and collaborations, including those generated by the most popular desktop applications from Adobe(R), Microsoft(R), Lotus(R), and Corel(R) such as PPT, DOC, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PDF, etc.
Participants in a PhoneCube conference can view and graphically annotate shared documents directly from their Java-enabled Web browsers and conduct text-based chat sessions through public and private messaging. PhoneCube also allows presenters to view and manage the status of their conference.
Conference administrators can dial, mute, put on hold, and disconnect participants dynamically during a session from within the Web browser. Other features include a Quick Dial list (one-click dialing), Dial All (burst dialing), Sequential Dialing (one-by-one), and Fast Redial capabilities.
"PhoneCube combines the flexibility and power of the Internet with the strengths of traditional phone conferencing plus enhanced collaboration features customers demand," Neyman said. "We are making this feature-rich service available for a low 15 cents per participant per minute cost for calls anywhere in the U.S."
In a special promotion, 3Cube is offering subscribers who sign up for both PhoneCube and FaxCube (the company's world-leading Internet faxing service) a reduced rate of only 7.5 cents per minute in the US. The company is also offering prospective customers Free Trial accounts with 30 free minutes of PhoneCube usage anywhere in the U.S. PhoneCube service is immediately available at www.phonecube.com.
PhoneCube and FaxCube are the first two members of 3Cube's growing family of online office services soon to be combined in one office portal called "OfficeCube," an entire suite of integrated virtual office productivity solutions to be announced in the first half of 2000.
According to an IDC market analyst report issued on September 24, 1999, total Internet Protocol (IP)-related service revenue was expected to reach estimated $480 million by the end of 1999, increasing to an estimated $19 billion by 2004.
OfficeCube will offer many of the tools found in a typical office environment conveniently linked together through a user-friendly interface accessible from any location. OfficeCube clients will be able to schedule and keep track of conferences and events with the help of a personal calendar, as well as organize their contacts in one location, offering the productivity of the office from any location and creating a one-stop portal for office professionals.
