3COM AND NETMANAGE SIGN TECHNOLOGY LICENSING AGREEMENT

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- 3Com (NASDAQ: COMS) and NetManage last week signed an agreement in which NetManage licenses TCP/IP technology from 3Com and allows both companies to jointly develop DOS/Windows-based products based on this technology.
According to Alan Kessler, vice president and general manager of 3Com's Network Systems Division, "We are pleased to be working with NetManage and look forward to the products that will result from their access to the DPA technology."
The addition of TCP w/DPA for DOS users to NetManage's product offering complements existing MS Windows-based TCP and NFS products, Chameleon and ChameleonNFS. 3Com's DPA products provide a TCP/IP protocol stack and complete set of applications for DOS-based PCs. Applications include: FTP, Telnet, TN3270, NFS and network maintenance utilities.
NetManage Chameleon and ChameleonNFS are 100-percent DLL so they take only 6K of base memory while giving users the TCP/IP protocol stack and a complete set of applications with an easy-to-use Windows graphical user interface.
According to Zvi Alon, president of NetManage, "While our commitment to the Windows market has not changed, our customers have started looking to us as a single source of TCP/IP solutions for their PCs. NetManage intends to serve both the DOS and Windows market as well as the emerging market for products that migrate customers from DOS to Windows. Access to 3Com's DPA technology allows us to build on a proven foundation when serving these markets."
 About Chameleon and ChameleonNFS
Chameleon is a comprehensive applications package for Windows TCP/IP communications. It is the first TCP/IP applications package in the market based 100 percent on a Windows Dynamic Link Library (DLL) and not a TSR. Chameleon includes Telnet, FTP, SMTP/Mail, TN3270, TFTP, Ping, Bind, Finger, Whois and SNMP. ChameleonNFS has both an NFS client and server implementation for disk and printer sharing. Both Chameleon and ChameleonNFS take full advantage of Windows' flexibility and multitasking capability, allowing multiple concurrent sessions with different accounts and hosts.
