34 Taliban killed in Kandahar air strikes.

As many as 34 Taliban insurgents have been killed in NATO air strikes in southern Kandahar province over the past three days, an official said on Sunday. The air raids were conducted in the Sanzari area of Zheri district after intelligence reports indicated the presence of Taliban in the area, said the governor's spokesman, Zalmay Ayubi. Ten militants were killed in the latest operation, while 24 others were killed two days earlier, he added. NATO's media office in Kabul confirmed the operation in Zheri. In a statement, the alliance said militant hideouts were targeted in the Ghariban area. It said a number of militants were killed in precision air raids. The Taliban have not yet commented on the claims.
