3-hr trip turns into three-day nightmare; Chaos at the airport: Day 2 Passengers go through another 24hrs of flight-delay misery.
FOUR Irishmen saw their three-hour trip to a music festival turn into a three-day nightmare after their flight from Dublin airport was cancelled.
Niall Murphy, 28, Dave Bennett, 30, Rob Murphy, 29, and 26-year-old Noel Cahill, all Dubliners, were set to fly to Hungarian capital Budap est at 4pm on Wednesday from Dublin.
Niall had flown back from Australia to come to the legendary four-day festival in Eastern Europe.
Rob said: "As we reached our terminal and looking forward to loads of good times and a pint in the bar, the flight was still departing on time.
"At 5pm the screen said 'go to gate' while all other airlines were cancelling flights and announcing seven-hour delays."
The four friends noticed as the minutes passed there were no announcements, no apologies and no one from Ryanair to explain what was going on.
Rob added: "We started to panic and we didn't know what to do if the flight was cancelled."
At 6pm their worst fears were realised and the flight was cancelled.
Rob said: "Everyone was running around agitated and wondering what to do."
The four-day festival was due to start at 10pm yesterday.
But the men ended up travelling to Belfast on Wednesday night to catch the first flight to London yesterday morning .
When they got to Stansted they then had to wait 12 hours before flying to Bratislava, Slovakia, which is still at least nine hours by train from the festival .
They were due to arrive into Novi Sad at 7.30pm tonight.
