3-IN-BED TORY SPRINGS BACK.
The MP quit as Parliamentary secretary to Ulster chief Sir Patrick Mayhew after his steamy session with a Sunday school teacher and a male friend was revealed last April.
Thirty-year-old Odette Nightingale said she had taken part in the romp at Mr Spring's pounds 750,000 London home.
The embarrassment was increased when it was revealed he had made insulting remarks about the sex life of John Major and members of the Royal Family.
But yesterday the divorced MP for Bury St Edmunds was re-appointed as a Private Parliamentary Secretary - this time to energy minister Tim Eggar.
Mr Spring, 49, will be hoping to survive longer than the five months he did last time.
But his hopes could be dashed for Mr Eggar has already announced he is joining the exodus of Tories quitting at the next election.
They were joined yesterday by close Major ally Richard Ryder - the 52nd MP to announce he is standing down.
Mr Ryder, 47, was Chief Whip until last summer and a member of the Premier's inner circle.
His departure is yet another sign that the Tories believe they are set to lose the next election.
