3 held after botched raid.

THREE men were arrested following a botched armed robbery on a Dublin off-licence.

Gardai arrived at Molloy's off-licence at Swiss Cottage in Santry as three armed raiders were making their getaway.

The men had held up staff shortly before 12.30am and taken a substantial sum of money.

One of the raiders fired a shot and hijacked the Garda car but was cornered at the scene.

Another raider was caught after he made his way off on foot.

A third raider managed to hijack a taxi after threatening the driver but Gardai managed to pull the keys from the ignition.

A quantity of money, a swan-off shotgun and a stolen car were later recovered from the scene.

A Garda spokesman said the incident was frightening for the officers involved.
