3 DIE ON RIG SHIP.

THREE crewmen died yesterday in an accident on a rig rescue ship in the North Sea.

They were trying to secure an anchor chain in a storage area of The Viking Islay. The ship supports the Ensco 92 drilling rig for BP.

The men were named as coxswains Finlay Macfayden, 46, of Aberdeen, Robert O'Brien, 59, from Fife, and boatman Robert Ebertowski, 40, from Poland. Graham Philip, chief executive of Vroon Offshore Services Ltd, said: "This is a tragic incident."

An investigation is being carried out.
