2nd Annual American Running Honors Gala--an invitation.
American Running and AMAA members can enjoy an evening of celebration and motivation at the 2nd Annual American Running Honors Gala in Washington D.C. at the Ritz Carlton-Pentagon City Hotel on Wednesday, May 26. All net proceeds will go toward American Running's efforts to combat the epidemic rise in obese and overweight Americans, specifically the new youth physical activity program, "One-on-One, Walk & Run." Together, ARA and AMAA are a formidable team to help defeat the crisis of the ever-expanding waistline of Americans. The recently released study by the CDC in the March 10 issue of JAMA concluded that obesity and overweight conditions have nearly caught tobacco as the leading preventable causes of death in the U.S. On a night when attendees will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first sub-4 minute mile by Sir Roger Bannister, M.D., the message of walking and running as a weapon in the fight against obesity will be at the starting line of our race to get Americans moving.
AMAA members receive a 25% discount on individual tickets ($225 versus $300) to the event. Go to www.americanrunning.org and click on the image of Sir Roger Bannister for further details.
