262 accused released on probation in April 2019.

PESHAWAR -- The department of Payroll and Probation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the month of April 2019 released as many as 262 accused involved in various crimes on probation.

According to an official communique issued here Tuesday, the prisoners were released after their rehabilitation and reformation, adding that from September 2016 the department has improved its performance and released 1858 prisoners on probation in 2016.

Similarly the figure of prisoners' released on probation crossed 3,000 in the year 2019 including 3105 males, 85 females, 111 juveniles and 3 teenage females.

It said the release of prisoners on probation not only reduces the number on inmates in already overcrowded jails but save millions of rupees expenses incur on them.

It said that with the improvement in performance of the department the ratio of prisoners' release would be increased in future.
