25% Growth Plan for C & D

Highly original new products and progressive improvements to tits craft bakery are forecast to increase by 25 percent this year the turnover of Manchester-based C & D Continental Patisserie, suppliers of more than 80 quality frozen desserts to the catering and retail sectors, ranging from whole gateaux to individual rhum babas and eclairs.

C & D recently took first prise in the best new catering dessert/ice cream/confectionery category in the British Frozen Food Federation annual awards, with its After Dinner Torten. It comprises 40 percent fresh dairy cream and features chocolate and vanilla sponge, a light taste of mint, and a garnish of chocolate wheels.

Tennis fortnight was the inspiration for Wimbledon Strawberry Flan, based on a high-quality, Continental-style sponge for a light taste and texture. A generous layer of creme patissiere on a bed of strawberries complete the recipe.

Sales have also boomed for C & D's improved recipe Lemon Meringue Pie with new pictorial packaging and a sharper, tangier lemon zest.

Among the latest improvements to the craft bakery, is a 22,500 [pounds] pneumatic Jahn puff pastry slicer. It has increased output of fresh cream Mille Feuilles and enabled the launch of a companion puff-pastry product, Custard Slice.

The full range of frozen desserts from C & D Continental Patisserie includes over 40 cream gateaux, logs, cheesecakes and flans, all competitively priced to caterers from 6.05p [pounds] for popular gateaux to 66.96p for Strawberry Pavlova Cake (Australian recipe). They are suitable for sweet trolley, counter or plate service and pre-portioning is available on a selection of the products.

An equally extensive range of individual pastries is available for caterers and in cash and carry packs through Booker.
