24Seven: Telly: Cringe factor is key to Worst Week comedy; The Worst Week of My Life (BBC1,9pm).

NOT enough has been written about the power of the cringe in comedy. While some sitcoms are just plain funny, we seem capable of drawing just as much pleasure from those more inclined to make us wince, whether it's inembar-rassment or at the misfortune of others.

The Worst Week Of My Life contains more cringes per minute than anything else on TV,as husband and wife-to-be Howard (BenMiller) and Mel (SarahAlexander) are to be plagued by problems. This week,Cassie's father turns up at the Cook household to berate Howard for ``abandoning'' his daughter.
