24/7: OUT AND ABOUT: A cultured tale to tell.

Byline: with ZORAN BLACKIE

AS we hurtle towards 2008, part of the city's Capital of Culture celebrations include a lesbian and gay archive project called `Tales From Yester-Queer'. The Armistead Project, Unity Theatre and the Liverpool Record Office are launching the first ever research into Liverpool's lesbian and gay history. The project is backed by Homotopia and the Unity Theatre and needs your input. I've written before about the need for interviewees to provide an insight to gay life in Liverpool over the years. But the project also needs volunteers to collect and collate the information. The archive will be built from spoken, written and video sources. Filmmaker Sandhi Hughes has been specially commissioned t produce the documentary `Gayzin Liverpool', presenting a personal view of Liverpool's gay scene from the last 20 years.

Tales From Yester-Queer is based at The Armistead Project on Stanley Street and volunteers will receive full training and expenses. If you're interested then contact Paul White or Phil Yates at Armistead on 0151 227 1893
