20mph speed limits will be unenforceable; Letters.
SO our council is about to introduce a 20mph speed limit on certain roads around Coventry (Telegraph, August 29). How on earth can they bring this into effect, when they cannot even enforce the present 30mph limit? Whenever I drive along Broad Lane - always observing the 30mph limit - before reaching the lights at Fletchamstead Highway, I inevitably have a tailback of motorists who assume they are in a 40mph zone - many of whom try to overtake me.
With the suggested 20mph limit, many cars will not even get out of second gear.
Imagine the extra pollution and fuel wastage this will produce.
Peter Surtees, Sutton Avenue, Eastern Green, Coventry.
