2016 finalists get down to business; Fionnuala Bourke Commercial Editor

HUNDREDS of members of Birmingham's business community are counting down the weeks to this year's major celebration of the city's entrepreneurial successes.

More than 650 guests are expected to attend this year's Birmingham Post Business Awards at the ICC on Wednesday, October 26.

The full shortlist has now been announced, including the Creative Communications & Digital Business category, sponsored by Bodypower, in which the finalists are Connect Group, Story Comms and Top Banana.

A total of 101 companies entered BPBA 2016.

The winners of each category will be announced at the gala ceremony Mr Brown said: "Looking back at the last 12 months, once again this region has been the UK's export success story, yet again Greater Birmingham has attracted a host of companies, unemployment has fallen, employment has risen and this city looks like one with a strong future.

"Now there's a long line of people looking to take credit for all this but it is our businesses and our entrepreneurs that drive these things on. it's people who have a dream, chase it, back their expertise and create jobs on the back of it.

"In short, people like you." Amplify general manager, Sally Walder, also welcomed guests and said: "We are delighted to be supporting the Birmingham Post Business Awards.

"It is important for the local business community to get together and celebrate our achievements, and this annual event is the perfect forum to do this."

BPBA sponsors Champions, who organised the Champagne reception, further honoured the finalists.

Champions managing director, Matt Hayes, said: "Everyone here at Champions (UK) plc are thoroughly looking forward to the imminent Birmingham Post Business Awards. "Each of the finalists are sure to be on tenterhooks between now and the event and will no doubt be hoping that they will walk away with a prestigious accolade at the end of the night.
