2005 Medical Management of Endurance Events.
To give you a brief history of the event, this particular symposium was conceived in the early 1990s when the medical director of the Marine Corps Marathon recognized the need for additional training for his medical staff to address the growing number of beginner marathoners who participate through charity-related programs.
Over the years, it has grown from a one-day event touching on a few key topics to a two-day event beginning with grand rounds and including an evening panel to promote exchange of intellectual discussion among professionals with an interest in sports medicine. In fact, the symposium's excellent educational reputation has attracted many residency directors, who now bring their residents for the learning opportunity experienced both through the lectures and practical education in the medical tent on race day.
If you haven't previously attended, consider adding the Medical Management of Endurance Events to your calendar this year!
