2003 Barlow composers competition. (Competitions).

The Barlow Endowment for Music Composition at Brigham Young University is seeking composers to compete for its Barlow Prize for an Orchestral Work, a $17,000 commission, which will be premiered by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the American Composers Orchestra in 2005.

In addition, Barlow sponsors two other commissioning programs: General Commissions available to composers or performing groups desiring collaboration for significant new musical works, and LDS Composer Commissions, available to composers belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or other composers willing to engage LDS subject matter. These commissions are worth between $4,000 and $9,000, depending on duration of work.

The Barlow Prize is open to all applicants except those who have won the Barlow Prize in the previous two years and members of the Barlow Boards.

Applications for the Barlow Prize and the commissioning programs must be postmarked no later than June 1, 2003.
