20 clinics, 10 medical stores sealed.

SUKKUR -- At least 20 clinics along with their 10 affiliated medical stores in Ghouspur town of Kandhkot-Kashmore district were sealed on Saturday in the ongoing anti-quacks drive launched on an order issued recently by Sukkur bench of the Sindh High Court.

Revenue officials escorted by police carried out raids on the clinics and medical stores under the supervision of the health officer and mukhtiarkar of the district. The owners and operators of the clinics and medical stores had pulled down the shutters and gone into hiding, a little before the day's operation began in the morning, to escape arrest, the officials said.

The drive has been launched in the district following complaints of a mushroom growth of quack doctors and thriving business of medicines operated by unrecognised/unauthorised people in the district.
