2 veterans of Great Patriotic War receive 100,000 soms in Batken.

Batken town mayor's office allocated 100,000 soms to two veterans of Great Patriotic War, said Turmush.

The governor of the Batken region Akram Madumarov and mayor of Batken Mamyrjan Rahimov visited veterans prior to celebrations of 74th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 7.

100-year-old veteran Ashir Rahmatov and 98-year-old veteran Sadyk Burkanov received 100,000 soms each.

The region authorities congratulated 98-year-old war veteran Mamat Ismanov who lives in the Samarkandek village of the Batken region and wished him good health and long life.

20,766 soldiers from the Batken region were enlisted to the front during the Great Patriotic War, where 14,213 of them did not return and only 6,553 veterans returned to home.

To date, only 19 veterans of the II World War have survived and 250 homefront veterans live in the region.
