2 schoolgirls kidnapped in northern Mosul.

NINEWA, July 6 (VOI) Co Two schoolgirls were kidnapped by unknown gunmen in northern Mosul, a security source said on Sunday.

"Unidentified gunmen driving a civilian vehicle kidnapped two preparatory school students in Talkeef district, northern Mosul," the source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq-Voices of Iraq- (VOI).

The two students were on their way to sit their end-of-term exams, the source explained, adding that an investigation is currently underway to probe the reasons behind the abduction.

Talkeef, a predominantly Christian district, is one of Ninewa's most secured areas.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
