2 BI 2 SIGNS EUROPEAN DISTRIBUTION PACTS; NAMES NEW KEY EXECS

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- 2 Bi 2, Inc. (NASDAQ: BIKEU) said today it signed 11 separate distribution contracts with 6 distributors in Europe for its Legacy Bicycle Corp. subsidiary, that represent minimum purchase requirements of some 72,000 bicycles in 17 western Europe and 15 eastern Europe nations during 1993.
2 Bi 2, Inc. is the developer and manufacturer of the world's first two-wheel drive bicycles which it markets under the Legacy, BWA and MacGregor brand names.
At the same time, the company announced four key executive appointments that Kenneth Beckham, 2 Bi 2, Inc. president, said add considerable bicycle industry strength to the company's management team.
Terry Husher was named vice president marketing and sales for the company's BWA and MacGregor brand bicycles. Formerly director of marketing and national accounts manager for Huffy Corp., Husher was responsible for development of the MissRocker and Expert-Pro lines of bicycles at Huffy.
Gary King was named production manager for 2 Bi 2 in Asia. King was product manager in Taiwan with a major international bicycle manufacturer for five years.
Mark Peirce was named international sales manager of the company's Legacy bicycle line and will manage European operations. Peirce has had extensive operations experience with a major international firm based in Brussels.
Aric Stewart has been named product engineer/manager for 2 Bi 2, Inc. For the past 12 months, he worked under a consulting contract to 2 Bi 2 as part of a West Coast engineering team. A mechanical engineer, he was previously employed by an Asian-based mechanical products manufacturer.
Andrea Tollefsrud joined the sales and marketing staff of Legacy Bicycle Corp. She has worked with the Serrota and Rock Shox bicycle lines and was formerly ranked among the top 20 competitive women riders in the U.S.
Commenting on the company's European orders, Beckham said, "It is clear that Europe will lead the way in purchases for our two-wheel drive bicycles in 1993. The 11 distribution contracts which we have just received provide us considerable diversity throughout the European market."
Beckham said that initially some 2,000 bicycles will be shipped to Europe and that additional orders are expected by the company within 60 days.
"As distributors begin to prepare for spring business, we expect to see increasing orders from clients worldwide," Beckham said. While these orders are a very positive sign and indicative of the long term success that is expected, Beckham added that company earnings are still impacted by start-up and development costs and that he does not expect profitability until the 3rd quarter of this calendar year.
The patented two-wheel drive system powers both the front and rear wheels of a bicycle, increasing stability, traction and maneuverability.
Beckham said the two wheel drive system may ultimately be considered as comparable a breakthrough in bicycle engineering and technology as was the introduction of the multi-speed gear shifting system (derailleur) almost 100 years ago.
The two-wheel drive concept was developed by Alton, Ill., inventor Bill Becoat, a onetime airplane mechanic, who has licensed worldwide patent rights to 2 Bi 2, Inc.
2 Bi 2, Inc. was founded in 1990. Its stock was offered to the public in September 1992. The company is headquartered in St. Louis. Its common stock is traded over-the-counter under the NASDAQ symbol BIKEU, and listed under NASDAQ small cap issues.
