2,894 Kyrgyz citizens serve their sentences in Russia and Kazakhstan -- Foreign Ministry.

Number of Kyrgyz citizens serving their sentences in Russia and Kazakhstan is 2,894 people, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erines Otorbaev said on November 25 at the session of the committee of the Parliament for international relations. 2,414 Kyrgyz citizens are sentenced in Russia, 318 - in Kazakhstan. According to Otorbaev, they have been convicted for smuggling drugs, illegal border crossing, intentional infliction of body injuries. Member of the Parliament from the Ata-Meken faction Joomart Saparbaev has asked how many members of organized crime groups detained on the territory of neighboring states. To this, Erines Otorbaev said that the Foreign Ministry does not own such information and it's Internal Ministry that has such data. MP Bakhadyr Suleymanov objected this saying that the Foreign Ministry should have such information since it has its representatives in abroad.
