1st Global Network Conference on Emergency Medicine.

Summary: DUBAI - Shaikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, inaugurated the 1st Global Network Conference on Emergency Medicine which is taking place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

DUBAI - Shaikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, inaugurated the 1st Global Network Conference on Emergency Medicine which is taking place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

He was accompanied by Abdelouahab Bellou, Conference Chairman and President of the European Society for Emergency Medicine (EuSEM), Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Hussain Al Rahma, President of Emirates Intensive Care Society, Head of Critical Care Department at Dubai Hospital and Chairperson of the congress, Dr Hussein Al Redha, as well as other senior health officials.

The congress is being conducted for the first time in Dubai and over 600 delegates have registered for the congress.

Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, said during his opening speech that the conference is of significant importance for it discusses pertinent topics in the field of emergency medicine, trauma and multi-trauma cases as well as discusses the latest advances in crisis management and natural catastrophes.

He added that the conference provides insight for all healthcare professionals in the field of emergency medicine including doctors, nurses, paramedics etc.

Al Murooshid presented an overview of the DHA's strategy to further strengthen emergency medicine in the Emirate and highlighted the achievements of DHA Hospitals including Rashid Hospital's Trauma centre and Dubai Hospital in this field.

He also mentioned that one of the DHA projects in the pipeline is the Al Maktoum Accident and Emergency Hospital in Jebel Ali which will cater to the emergency needs of the population living in the new Dubai areas. The hospital will be 945,000 square feet and will have 300 beds

The conference attracted more than 1500 world-class doctors, researchers, educators, and medical professionals from across the world. The mission of the congress is to encourage the practice of emergency medicine throughout the region and provide a forum of exchange of information.

Prior to the inauguration of the three-day conference which took place today, workshops were held during the past two days on various aspects of emergency medicine to facilitate to exchange of state-of-the-art information in the field.

At the end of the conference, Sheikh Mansour honoured Abdelouahab Bellou, Dr Hussain Al Rehma and Dr Hussein Al Redha, for their achievements and significant contribution in the field of emergency medicine in the UAE.
