1994 DODGE RAM NAMED 4WHEEL & OFF-ROAD '4 X 4 OF THE YEAR'

LAS VEGAS, Nev., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road magazine today announced the all-new 1994 Dodge Ram full-size pickup truck has won its 1994 "4 x 4 of the Year" award. According to the magazine, among the features that set the Ram apart from the competition were its suspension, powertrain and internal and external styling.
The 4Wheel & Off-Road "4 x4 of the Year" competition is open to all manufacturers, both domestic and foreign, of new or substantially redesigned truck-based vehicles. This year's competition involved four vehicles -- a Dodge Ram 5.9-liter Magnum V-8, a Chevy S-10 ZR2, a Ford F-250 turbo diesel and a Chevy Blazer K-series with a 6.5-liter turbo diesel -- evaluated over a four-day period in conditions that test every aspect of a 4 x 4.
4Wheel & Off-Road presented the award today at the annual Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) trade show here. "There's nothing more satisfying than beating your competitors fair and square with a brand new entry," said Marty Levine, Dodge Division general manager. "This award is a tribute to the hard work and ingenuity of the entire Jeep and Dodge Truck team."
This is the second major award for the 1994 Dodge Ram full-size pickup -- the first all-new full-size truck from Dodge in 22 years. The Jeep and Dodge Truck team accepted Motor Trend's "Truck of the Year" award in October.
Production of the Dodge Ram began in July at the Dodge City Truck Assembly Plant in Warren, Mich., and at Lago Alberto Assembly Plant in Mexico City.
