1993 TOTAL QUALITY BUSINESS AND EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS ANNOUNCED

 CINCINNATI, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Total Quality Leadership Steering Committee today announced the 1993 Total Quality Business and Education Partnerships. The Leadership Steering Committee is a consortium of business and academic leaders who are championing the teaching, research and practice of Total Quality in our nation's colleges and universities. This year's new corporate participants and their university partners include:

 Procter & Gamble is coordinating this year's Total Quality Business and Education Partnerships. P&G Chairman and Chief Executive, Edwin L. Artzt, said, "If the U.S. expects to improve global competitiveness, business and academic leaders will have to close ranks behind an agenda that stresses the importance and value of Total Quality. Therefore, it is gratifying to see the growing enthusiasm and commitment of our country's institutions to teach, practice and research Total Quality. I am confident this important program will help our nation meet the needs of an increasingly competitive global marketplace."
 This spring or summer, the participating companies will meet with faculty and administrators from selected disciplines from each of their partnering schools to share Total Quality learnings and develop Total Quality plans for each university.
 These partnerships were proposed in 1991 by Robert W. Galvin, chairman of the executive committee of the board of directors of Motorola, during the third annual Total Quality Forum meeting in Cincinnati. The objective of the partnerships is to encourage colleges and universities to integrate Total Quality into their curricula and to research and practice Total Quality.
