1993 CAR AND TRUCK OUTPUT CLIMBS 17.8 PERCENT ABOVE 1992

 DETROIT, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. and Canadian car and truck producers have assembled their 3,504,038 vehicles so far this year, 17.8 percent ahead of the same period one year ago, according to the trade paper Automotive News.
 This week's estimated U.S. and Canada car production is 158,402, down 8.2 percent from last week and up 21.0 percent from the year-ago week.
 Year-to-date U.S. and Canada car production is 1,973,999, up 17.8 percent from the same period in 1992.
 U.S. and Canada truck production is estimated at 123,821 this week, down 3.5 percent from last week and up 15.4 percent from the year-ago week.
 Year-to-date U.S. and Canada truck production is 1,530,039, up 17.9 percent from the same period one year ago.
 U.S. car and truck production for this week is shared as follows: General Motors, 39.7 percent; Ford Motor Co., 31.3 percent; Chrysler Corp., 12.6 percent; Nissan Motor Manufacturing Inc., 3.5 percent; Honda of America Manufacturing Inc., 2.9 percent; New United Motor Manufacturing Inc., 2.6 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 2.1 percent; AutoAlliance Inc., 1.3 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc., 1.1 percent; Diamond-Star Motors, 1.1 percent; Misc., 1.0 percent; Navistar, 0.7 percent; and AM General, 0.1 percent.
