1992s 'MOST BEAUTIFUL LIPS' ANNOUNCED BY BLISTEX INC.
OAK BROOK, Ill., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- 1992 may very well be remembered as the year of "lip service" -- congressional and presidential debates, campaign rhetoric and political promises. But politicians weren't the only ones to offer lip service. This year, authors, businessmen, actors and other public figures also had their lips "read." Who had the most beautiful lips of 1992? The lip care specialists at Blistex Inc. have named their annual 12 "Most Beautiful Lips" picks chosen from a cross-section of newsmakers who made headlines throughout the year. Leading the list of awardees is President-elect Bill Clinton for his "Most am'bushing lips." Clinton scored in the polls against President George Bush and will land in the White House, the first Democratic president in 12 years. Also hoping to "Get the job done" was Texas billionaire Ross Perot, who confused Americans with his "Most in...out...in...lips." Perot's on-off-on again campaign for the White House alternately confused, angered, disappointed and excited the public. Actor and comedian Jerry Seinfeld was named "Lip schtick" for his popular stand-up comic routines and hit television comedy series that bears his name. Automotive tycoon Lee Iacocca earned the title of "Most retiring lips." This year, Iacocca leaves the helm of Chrysler Corp. after 14 years of service. Actress and famous feline Michelle Pfeiffer pranced onto the list with her "Most purrrfect lip." Pfeiffer made headlines as the vixenish Cat Woman in the hit movie "Batman Returns." Outrageous laughs gave Mike Myers' and Dana Carvey's characters Wayne and Garth a "totally cool" chance of making the list with their "Most excellent lips...not!" Wayne and Garth are best known for their blockbuster movie "Wayne's World" and comedy sketches on "Saturday Night Live." Author John Grisham was named "Firmest lips" for his best selling novel released earlier this year, The Firm. Grisham piqued the interest of millions with his chilling tale of a lawyer trying to make it to the top at a mysterious law firm. Country music catapulted in the U.S. this year and so did Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achiest, breakiest lips." Cyrus topped the charts with his country hit "Achy Breaky Heart." Major League Baseball's Deputy Commissioner Fay Vincent received "Most out of commission lips" in 1992 when he voluntarily resigned due to pressure from Major League owners. Astronaut Mae C. Jemison earned cosmic fame this year with her "Most adventurous lips." Jemison is the first African American woman to travel in space. That man walking down the street with long black sideburns and a white fringe, bell-bottom jumpsuit may not only look like Elvis, he may in fact be Elvis. This legend has been "seen" in numerous places since his death in 1977 and will appear 300 million times on a commemorative United States stamp, winning him the title "Most sighted lips" of 1992. Heeeere's...the last, but certainly not least, Johnny Carson's "Most missed lips." Carson left "The Tonight Show" after 30 years as America's favorite evening talk show host and television icon. "You don't have to be famous to have beautiful lips," says Richard K. Green, president of Blistex Inc., the leading manufacturer of medicated lip care products. "Our lips are constantly in the public eye, so it's important to keep them properly protected and conditioned all year round." -0- 12/16/92 /CONTACT: Anne Goodwin-Neuhaus, 312-836-7294, or Andrew Krause, 312-836-7163, both for Blistex/
