1992 U.S. AND CANADIAN CAR AND TRUCK ASSEMBLY NEARS 12 MILLION

 DETROIT, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. and Canadian car and truck producers have assembled an estimated 11,706,740 vehicles so far this year and final 1992 production will be just shy of the 12 million mark, according to the trade paper Automotive News.
 This week's estimated U.S. and Canada car production is 168,259, up 11.2 percent from last week and 18.5 percent from the year-ago week.
 Year-to-date U.S. and Canada car production is 6,668,925, up 3.6 percent from the same period in 1991.
 U.S. and Canada truck production is estimated at 121,448 this week, up 5.5 percent from last week and 25.6 percent from the year-ago week.
 Year-to-date U.S. and Canada truck production is 5,037,815, up 17.6 percent from the same period one year ago.
 U.S. car and truck production for this week is shared as follows: General Motors, 37.1 percent; Ford Motor Co., 31.2 percent; Chrysler Corp., 13.5 percent; Honda of America Manufacturing Inc., 3.6 percent; Nissan Motor Manufacturing Inc., 3.3 percent; New United Motor Manufacturing Inc., 3.0 percent; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.4 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg., 2.1 percent; Diamond-Star Motors, 1.2 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc., 1.1 percent; Misc. 0.8 percent; Navistar, 0.6 percent; and AM General, 0.1 percent.
