1992 'FIREHAWK,' THE QUICKEST PONTIAC EVER BUILT

1992 'FIREHAWK,' THE QUICKEST PONTIAC EVER BUILT
 TOMS RIVER, N.J., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- For consumers who don't

want others to know they're driving the fastest Pontiac-based car ever built, Street Legal Performance Engineering (SLP) is now offering its 1992 Firehawk in six additional colors.
According to Ed Hamburger, president of SLP, "When Pontiac and SLP entered into a business agreement that allowed my company to sell 250 Firehawks through Pontiac's dealer network, I thought selecting bright red as the only exterior color was the perfect choice to reinforce this car's macho image as the ultimate Firebird." However, recent consumer clinics indicated otherwise.
During the same clinics, SLP discovered that Firehawk's target buyer is likely to be a knowledgeable car collector or serious enthusiast who doesn't necessarily want the world to know that their car can out- accelerate and out-handle Ferraris as well as Porsches.
Clinic data also indicated Firehawk buyers are primarily attracted by its performance. Powered by an enhanced version of General Motors 350 cubic inch High Output V8, Firehawk combines the brute power of 350 horsepower with a Corvette ZF six-speed transmission and the reliability of the Dana 44 Super Duty rear axle assembly.
"Like any other consumer, Firehawk owners still appreciate value. At $39,995 and with zero-to-60 mph performance in 4.2 seconds, Firehawk represents the best performance value in the sports car market," said Hamburger.
Because Firehawk repre straight from the dealer showroom to the race track. Yet it's docile during normal driving. So docile that Firehawk delivers 25 miles per gallon/highway and 16 in the city.
By drawing on Hamburger's 20 years of experience, gained from supplying performance parts to racing greats, such as Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty, SLP is able to convert stock, GM-assembled Firebird Formula models into cars that Car and Driver termed "Fast, ferocious and clean," and Motor Trend said, "There's enough power to startle Corvette ZR-1 drivers into next week."
Along with outstanding handling, a top speed of 160 miles per hour, and almost certain status as the first true collectible of the 1990s, Firehawk features a virtually bulletproof powertrain that utilizes exotic, high-strength material that, for cost reasons, are not available on mass-produced performance cars.
For Firehawk owners who demand that certain extra, this race bird even shares one trait with the $470,000 Ferrari F40, the incredible Brembo brake package. Optional on Firehawk, these brakes have earned a reputation for having the greatest stopping power of any brake system on the market.
SLP is so confident about Firehawk that it will share one-half of the round-trip airfare of qualified consumers interested in visiting its conversion facility in New Jersey for a test drive. For details, consumers should contact his or her local Pontiac dealer for more information or call SLP at 1-908-240-3696.
When you visit your Pontiac dealer, be sure to take eight short minutes and watch the video that explains why Firehawk is the quickest, best-handling Pontiac every built.
