1953 people caught tuberculosis in the first half of 2019 in Azerbaijan.
1953 people caught tuberculosis in the first half of the current year in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Health told as a response to APA.
1320 of them are men, while 627 of them are women. According to the information, tuberculosis has been recorded in 211 children and teenagers in 6 months.
The ministry stated that 376 of the people, caught the illness, fall into Baku's share. Its main reason is a thick settlement of population in the city. However, calculations over recent years show the incidence of the disease over 100 000 people in Baku is less than the incidence in the Republic.
In Azerbaijan, in 2018, 6895 tuberculosis patients were registered. 3762 of them were treated once, and 3133 - repeatedly. The average figure in the republic was 70 people. This is less than in 2017 (73.2).
For 6 months of 2019, 3004 active tuberculosis patients were identified in the republic. 1953 of them were initially, 1051 reiterate treated.
