175mph THE FASTEST SPEEDER IN BRITAIN EVER; Biker caught by his own video.

A BIKER'S 175mph ride is the fastest speeding case ever to come to court.

Daniel Nicks would have got away with it but he videoed himself at the shocking speed and police seized the tape when he crashed after he had slowed down.

He has now given up bikes after he felt sick watching the video he had made on the camcorder strapped to his 900cc Honda Fireblade.

Nicks, 37, wanted to film the road and his speedometer on the A41 in Buckinghamshire on his last glory ride before he sold it.

He was slightly injured later when he came off the bike at Tring, Hertforshire.

But a suspicious traffic cop saw the camcorder and Nicks ended up before magistrates in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, yesterday where he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

The home video showed him hitting 175mph as he sped past a petrol station.

It also showed him accelerating to 140mph from a standing start and doing 95mph in a 40mph zone.

Victoria Pinkney, defending, said: "When he was shown the video, he was almost physically sick at the police station.

"He has vowed never to get on a motorcycle again."

The father-of-two, of Hemel Hempstead, will be sentenced in three weeks.

PC Richard Barker said: "He behaved like a complete idiot and could easily have killed himself and others.

"If it had not been for the video he'd have got away with it but the evidence was there for us to prosecute him."THE WORST OF THE RESTlAnthony Fear was clocked at 154mph in his Aston Martin DB7 in 1997, the fastest-ever speeding offence recorded for a car.

Also in 1997, biker Guy Walton was clocked at 141mph on the A68 at Soutra - a 60mph zone south of Edinburgh.

Police said it was the second-highest speed ever recorded in their area. A biker was logged at 150mph near Peebles.
