16 Days of Activism on Violence Against Women and children.

For the past ten years, the 16 Days of Activism has been used to create a global movement to end gender violence by raising awareness, addressing policy and legal issues, campaigning for the protection of survivors of violence and calling for the elimination of all forms of gender violence.

From 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to 10th December, International Human Rights Day, a wide range of activities will take place in Windhoek and various regions of Namibia to highlight the high rate of gender-based violence in our country and consider what must be done to change this. A full programme of events has been put together through a collaborative effort of many non-governmental organisations, the Office of the Ombudsman and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare.

One of the many highlights of the programme will be the one-woman drama ME&U by Natasha Lamoela at Studio 77 in Windhoek--a show not to be missed!

Another highlight will be the panel discussion Women claiming their sexual rights, hosted by Sister Namibia and the Women's Leadership Centre.

Watch the media for the full programme, and participate in full force!
