15 sign up for major training conference.

MANAMA: Fifteen delegates have registered to take Bahrain's position as a regional training hub to global heights at a conference in Toronto, Canada, later this month.

However, organisers are hoping to get 20 delegates to make it to the 38th Canadian Society for Training and Development and International Federation of Training and Development (IFTDO) world conference and trade show being held from October 19 to 23.

The delegation, comprising human resources development professionals and academicians, will attend the show, under the theme 'People, Knowledge and Performance'.

"We are targeting human resources and training professionals, who will be engaged in four days of learning, engaging and networking with training and development professionals from Canada and around the globe," said Bahrain Society for Training and Development (BSTD) international relations director Gopika Beri.

Among those attending will be Gulf Air chief people officer Ahmed Al Banna and Alba chief operating officer Mohammed Mahmood.

Also among the delegates from Bahrain are IFTDO chairman Ebrahim Al Dossary, who is also chief executive officer and BSTD board executive adviser.

Others include IFTDO board member and BSTD president Hussain Ismail, Bahrain Air human resources and support services director Ahmed Al Sayed, Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company board member and BSTD public relations director Essam Al Alawi, Bahrain Airport Company human capital and support acting vice-president Hamed Abdul Rahman, Tamkeen administration and personnel manager Yousif Abdulla and MUvenpick Hotel training manager Noor Al Huda.

Ms Beri said Bahraini delegates will serve as ambassadors of the kingdom and promote it internationally.
