THIRTEEN death row prisoners in Indonesia are listed to face the firing squad within weeks, reports suggest.
But while three have been moved to where executions take place, former Redcar resident Lindsay Sandiford isn't believed to have been among them.
The Gazette told on Friday how "several" firing squads have reportedly been set up by Indonesian police to execute death row inmates.
Those currently on death row include Sandiford, 59, who was caught trying to smuggle 3.8 kilos of cocaine when she arrived on the Indonesian island of Bali from Bangkok in 2012.
The Sydney Morning Herald quotes Central Java Police spokesman Alloysius Liliek Darmanto as saying there are 13 drug offenders on the list of prisoners to be executed. But he adds: "We don't have details of the names. We just wait for instructions from the Attorney General's office."
In a possible sign executions are imminent, three prisoners on death row for drug offences were transferred from Batam to Nusakambangan, where executions take place. However all three are Indonesian, so it appears Sandiford has a temporary stay of execution - in the very short term at least.
The three Indonesians - two 53-year-olds and a 42-year-old - were taken to Batu island, one of seven prisons known as Indone-sia's Alcatraz.
However, with 59 death row convicts already in jail on Nusakambangan, there is no confirmation the trio will be in the next round of executions. Last year 14 people - including Australians Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan - were executed by firing squad in Indonesia. But the country's chief security minister Luhut Panjaitan has said Indonesia wanted to avoid the "soap opera" of last year when speculation about execution dates dragged on.
Other foreigners on death row for drug offences include Filipina Mary-Jane Veloso and Frenchman Serge Atlaoui.
