129,420 emergency victims rescued in September.

Director General Punjab Emergency Services (PES), commonly known as Rescue-1122, rescued 129,420 victims of different emergencies during 83,610 rescue operations in September all-over Punjab.

DG PES Dr Rizwan Naseer disclosed this while presiding over a meeting of Rescue officers at Rescue 1122 Headquarters on Monday.

He said that the PES was responding to 888 road accidents on an average daily in the province, in which 1,015 people on an average get injured.

The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded to include: 26,631 road accidents, 43,638 medical emergencies, 914 fire incidents, 2,284 crimes, 109 drowning incidents, 35 building collapses, nine explosions and 9,990 miscellaneous operations.

According to statistics, the majority of fire incidents occurred in major cities, including 258 in Lahore, 88 in Faisalabad, 60 in Multan, 45 each in Rawalpindi and Gujranwala, 34 in Sargodha, 32 in DG Khan and 28 in Sialkot.

Similarly, 6,550 traffic accidents were reported in Lahore, 2,314 in Faisalabad, 2,037 in Multan, 1,574 in Gujranwala, 954 in Bahawalpur, 870 in Sahiwal and 728 in Rawalpindi.
