123 POs held, protest rally arrested.

HAFIZABAD -- The district police have rounded up 123 proclaimed offenders including 22 wanted in heinous crimes during January last, DPO Shaker Hussain Dawar said here. He said that 77 court deserters were also arrested and produced before the courts. Moreover, the police have recovered stolen articles worth Rs.21,14,000/ during the period.
He said the police had launched crackdowns on the drug peddlers and had recovered 12 Kg 106 gm heroin, 2 Kg 295 gm opium, 6 Kg 880 gm charas, 281 litres liquor and smashed a working skill and seized 54 litre"lahan\" (raw liquor). The police have also recovered 6 kalashinkovs, 23 rifles, 18 guns, 33 pistols, one revolver and 572 rounds of ammunition from the antisocial elements. He further said 21 COPs were served show cause notices for their poor performance during January.
Meanwhile, an 8year old Pashto speaking girl who was found near Borianwala village about 5 days ago was identified today as Rukhsana daughter of ShamsulHadi of Surpanoki (Swat). According to Kassoki Police, an unidentified vehicle mysteriously dropped the girl near Borianwala village and the police took her in its custody. However, the police contacted her parents and handed her over to her brother last night. Her brother told the police that Rukhsana proceeded for her school about a week back but did not return and since then they went from pillar to post but failed to trace her.
The Labourers and Arhtis of Ghallah Mandi Gharbi Hafizabad taken out rally to protest against the failure of the TMA to drain off the sewage water from the compound of the Mandi as a result of which they have been surrendered jobless for the past about a week. The rally was led by Munir Ahmad. The participants paraded through main roads and staged sitin demonstration in Fawara Chowk where they raised slogans against the TMA for its indifferent and apathetic attitude in draining off the sewage.
They said that they were requesting and protesting against the sad state of affairs but the antipeople authorities of TMA have lent deaf ear to their genuine demand.
Six injured in mishap: Six persons including two women were seriously injured when two tractor trolleys hit the rickshaw in which they were travelling on Madharianwala Road. The rescue 1122 shifted the injured including Tariq, Sidra, Adeel, Lakhan Bibi and two others to the DHQ Hospital Hafizabad where condition of two of them is causing concern.
The police have arrested the drivers of both the tractors. The tractor drivers were attempting to overtake each other when the tractors collided headon with the rickshaw.
Meanwhile, use of Iodized salt is inevitable for the mental and physical growth, Executive District Officer (Health) declared here today.
While addressing training workshop for creating awareness about the use of Iodized salt which was attended among others by Field Officer Salt Iodisation Programme EhtshamulHaq Tariq and District Sanitary Inspector and focal person Irshad Ullah, he said that use of Iodine mixed salt is not only help in the mental and physical growth but also prevent different ailments. He assured the salt grinder owners that their problems would be resolved.
