11 people convicted in drug trafficking cases.

KABUL (PAN): Eleven drug traffickers have been convicted of trafficking and possessing narcotics by the Appeal Court of the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF),a statement issued here said Thursday: A drug trafficker from Herat province has been arrested for trafficking more than6 kg of heroin and was convicted and sentenced to16 years in jail, and fined one million fifty thousand Afghanis,the CJTF said in its statement.

The man was arrested by border police at Kabul International Airport. Two drug traffickers from Helmand province were convicted of trafficking15.5 kg of opium.

They were each convicted and sentenced to10 years imprisonment and fined seven hundred thousand Afghanis, the statement said. At the same time,the statement added, a co-accused in the case was convicted and sentenced to5 years imprisonment and fined five hundred thousand Afghanis.

They were arrested with the drugs by Helmand province police officers.

Three drug traffickers from Helmand province were convicted of trafficking more than 2000 kg of opium.

They were each convicted and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment and fined one million five hundred thousand Afghanis, the statement said,adding that they were arrested with the drugs by counter narcotics special forces.

A drug trafficker from Farah province was arrested for possessing 10 kg of heroin and 50 kg of morphine and was convicted and sentenced to17 years imprisonment and fined one million fifty thousand Afghanis after his arrest by counter narcotics special forces.

A man from Badghis province was arrested for possessing 15 kg of opium was convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and fined seven hundred thousand Afghanis.

He was arrested by Badghis province security forces.

Two drug traffickers from Samangan province were convicted of possessing 4 kg of heroin.

They were each convicted and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment and fined seven hundred thousand Afghanis.

They were arrested with the drugs by Samangan province police officers. Last week,the primary court of CJTF has also convicted 4 drug traffickers in different narcotics cases.
