10ways to........ CRANBERRIES are an essential festive fruit -the perfect accompaniment to Christmas turkey. But they also smell great, are packed with nutrients and can give you a healthy boost. SARAH DALE finds out 10 ways to... have a berry Christmas with cranberries.

1 BERRY by name, berry by nature. Debbie Berry knows why cranberries are so popular at Christmas. As assistant manager of The Body Shop in Middlesbrough Debbie sees how popular the cranberry range is in store.

"Cranberry is so popular," says Debbie. "They go bonkers for it at Christmas -the fragrance is a Christmassy fruity scent. "The cranberry range is on three for two at the moment too."

2 Cranberries are renowned for the treatment and prevention of urinary tract infections. Boots Cranberry Capsules, pounds 5.09, contains powerful antioxidants which can help maintain a healthy urinary tract.

3 Cranberries are high in calcium, magnesium, potassium, Vitamin A and Vitamin B. To keep the red fruit at its best, store them in the fridge or freeze.

4 Treat your skin to cranberry shimmer lotion, pounds 3 from The Body Shop for moisture, fragrance and sparkle all in one bottle.

5 Spoil someone special with the Cranberry Bag of Treats, pounds 15 from Boots. It contains 200ml cranberry body wash, 200ml body scrub, 50ml body butter, 75ml bath cream, sisal buffer.

You will need: 8-10 large pinecones 1 8-yard spool of red ribbon, cut into 8-10 24ins lengths 1 cup peanut butter 1 cup Ocean Spray Craisins Original Dried Cranberries ' cup birdseed What to do: Tie one 24ins ribbon length to the end of each pinecone. Soften peanut butter approximately 20-30 seconds in a microwave-safe bowl.

Appliances vary so adjust accordingly. Coat each pinecone with peanut butter. Sprinkle with Craisins and birdseed. Hang by the ribbons on tree branches and watch the birds enjoy their special holiday treat. Recipe from
