Now in its 11th year, 100% Design goes from strength to strength, magically transforming Earls Court in London from 22-25 September. More manageable than Milan (and just as stylish), the UK's leading commercial contemporary design show boasts an increasingly imaginative array of furniture, products, building systems and materials, backed up by thought-provoking seminars, events, awards, a bursary programme for young designers and a special student showcase. Growing interest in form, texture and colour is matched by ingenious technical sophistication to achieve particular effects. 500 ALINE JOHNSON

Micro striped handkerchief vases in coloured glass inspired by Johnson's visits to the Jurassic coast of Dorset. The vibrant palette of beach paraphernalia, stripes on windbreaks and seaside rock translates with ease into kaleidoscopic designs in fused glass.

502 MATERIALISE

Lotus lamp by Janne Kyttanen for Materialise, which inventively exploits sophisticated new techniques of stereolithography and selective laser sintering. Layers are built up on top of one another in a vessel of liquid polymer or powder and then laser bonded to produce a robust composite form.
