10-1 Rita looks just right in Brighton Belle.

Byline: Jonathan Kay

BALLYMAC RITA, impressive over the course and distance on Regency final night, looks a decent shout at the 10-1 offered by the sponsor for the Coral Brighton Belle, which starts with six heats over 515m at Hove tonight (live on SIS), writes Jonathan Kay.

Trained by Stacey Baggs, she has suffered a couple of subsequent defeats at Peterborough and Wimbledon, but had excuses on both occasions and looks to have a good shout in the opening heat at 7.26 despite facing ante-post favourite Steady Scholes.

The local challenge does not appear as strong as in recent years although Farloe Mirror (8.43) is an interesting ex-Irish newcomer for Claude Gardiner, while Derek Knight's strong-running Baby Marge (7.42) has to be respected despite this trip being on the sharp side for her.

The first three in each heat qualify for Saturday's semis, from which the first two progress to the pounds 2,500 final on Thursday week.
