10 things to know before: the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE) is October 6-9 in Las Vegas, N.V., and we have your "inside scoop" on how to make the most of your time in Las Vegas. Here's everything you need to know before you go, in 10 easy tips.

1. Register online before you arrive. This saves you money (at least $30 over onsite fees), and it saves you time. Unless you simply enjoy standing in line, register at and hit the ground running when you get to the Las Vegas Convention Center.

2. Book your hotel in the block. Not only are all rates backed by a Best Rate Pledge, you don't have to worry about getting "walked" to another hotel because yours was oversold. Finally, a portion of your room rate gets invested back into the industry for things like scholarships and PR campaigns to promote the benefits of grain-based foods.

3. Use IBIE discounts when booking your flight. Early October is generally a slow period for travel, so great deals are still available. Try a travel site like to find cheap airfares and then use the following codes to save up to 7 percent:

* Delta Domestic--NMGFU

* Delta International--NMGFV

* American--71H3AQ

* United--862800ZQDQ

* Don't forget to check Southwest, too, for great last minute fares.

4. Take advantage of discounted transportation from the airport. Need a ride from the Las Vegas Airport to your hotel? IBIE has partnered with LASxpress to offer $17.99 one-way airport transfers.

5. Download the show app. IBIE has more exhibitors, more education sessions and more demos and onsite show features than ever. To ensure you don't miss a thing, download the mobile app and begin personalizing your agenda with all of the classes, suppliers and features that relate to your objective and mission. Visit to download.

6. Make the case to attend. Need some help getting your boss to say "yes"? Use the IBIE website to make a list of the educational sessions you want to attend and the suppliers you will visit. Be ready to explain how the information you get here will help improve product, productivity and profitability for years to come. Use the travel tools to calculate your airfare, lodging and meals to show how affordable a trip to Las Vegas can be.

7. See What's New. Baking's newest advances will be on full display in one efficient, state-of-the-art center of innovation. Make sure you stop by the Innovation Showcase, located in the lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center, to see new products and technology that will equip your food manufacturing operation for the future. Entries include ingredients, equipment, packaging and safety products that have not exhibited at any previous IBIE event.

8. Get smart. Based on popular demand and positive feedback, IBIE's education program has been growing exponentially over the past three show cycles. This year's program addresses several topics that speak directly to food manufacturers, such as developing a food manufacturing work force, food safety and security, plant construction and expansion and matching production capacity to sales. Registration for education sessions is up 50 percent over this point in the planning process for the last IBIE, so our advice is to reserve your spot now before sessions are full.

9. Go green. As part of a commitment to positive transformation in the world, IBIE is recognizing BEST. (Becoming Environmentally Sustainable Together) in Baking suppliers that foster energy conservation, reduced water usage, a decrease in landfill waste, healthy living or a reduction of the overall impact on the environment. BEST, suppliers will be designated in the onsite directory and in the B.E.S.T. in Baking Lounge onsite.

10. Find inspiration. There's action and excitement right on the show floor with several competitions, like Pillsbury Baker's Plus Creative Decorating Competition and America's Best Raisin Bread Contest. Plus, targeted pavilions, like PMQ's Pizza Village and the American Pie Council's Great American Pie Festival feature demos, contests. entertainment and, best of all, samples!.

Once you've made your plans to attend, encourage your co-workers and colleagues to do the same. IBIE is the industry's gathering place and won't come around again until 2016. This is one event you can't miss. For more information, visit
