Fridge freezers are a lifesaver when it comes to space saving in the kitchen, combining two essential items in one. But being such a key part of our lives, it's crucial that we pick a right one for us.

With prices ranging from [pounds sterling]300 to into the thousands, there's plenty of options to pick from, and after price, perhaps the next most crucial element is space.

If you prefer buying fresh food or drink, you'll probably want a fridge freezer with more chilled space, whereas if you're more of a ready meal or bulk buying type, it's probably preferable to get one with more freezer drawers.

As the weather reaches scorching levels across the UK (meteorologists have marked it as one of the hottest Junes on record), it seems the world and his wife are replacing their age old machines for fresh new versions, just in time for the warm weather.

So much so thatAO.comhas recorded a whopping 277% increase in sales of fridge freezers compared to this time last year, as well as a 160% jump in sales of smaller fridges with ice boxes since last week, as Britons stock up on party food and drink during football season.

AO.com UK Purchasing Director, Paul Whyte said: "As temperatures rise across the country, it seems our customers are swapping out there old fridges with new ones ready for the heat wave. Smaller fridges with ice boxes have also been popular over the last few days, perhaps these are being used as a secondary fridge freezer to keep in the office during football season and throughout the summer".
