...while another dives in head first into flooded road.

WHEN torrential rain caused a Cardiff street to flood one hardy student decided to take advantage and go for a swim.

A video has emerged showing a man dressed in just a pair of red shorts appear from a halls of residence.

He then takes a run into the floodwater under a bridge in the Cathays area of the city and launches into a front crawl.

Motorists and pedestrians watch and cheer as he continues to swim lengths through the water.

It came as Cardiff experienced the UK's heaviest rainfall on Wednesday night leading Salisbury Road, near Cathays Park, to flood. Eyewitnesses captured the swim on camera and one could be heard saying how he must have picked up "five parasites and two diseases" from swimming in the water.

Two years ago two women stripped and went for a swim just around the corner when their car got trapped in flood water.
