Scopus Teams Up With Nokia to Drive Next Generation of Mobile Computing

Partnership Brings Innovative Customer Care Solutions to the Industry - Gives

Mobile Sales Professionals 'Finger-Tip' Access to Real-Time, Critical
 Customer Data

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Scopus Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCOP), the world's leading provider of enterprise customer care systems, announced last week at the DCI Sales Force Automation Conference and Exposition that it has entered into a collaborative marketing agreement with Nokia (NYSE: NOK.A), a leader in digital technologies. Under the terms of the agreement, Scopus and Nokia will jointly develop and market innovative new mobile computing technologies aimed at service and sales professionals charged with acquiring, developing and keeping customers.

Leveraging the mobile computing power and convenience of the award-winning Nokia 9000i COMMUNICATOR, Scopus will work with its customers and Nokia to develop and deliver innovative new mobile applications that will allow customer care representatives anytime, anywhere access to critical sales and customer information. The Nokia 9000i COMMUNICATOR is the world's first, all-in-one communications device that combines digital voice and data services and personal organizer functions into a single, small-sized and easy-to-use business tool.

With these new generation of applications, organizations will have real-time solutions to fully exploit and manage every sales and service opportunity with the integrated, mobile solutions needed to shorten the sales cycle, increase sales effectiveness, improve forecasting accuracy and provide better-qualified sales leads. For example, sales representatives may be automatically notified through their Nokia 9000i COMMUNICATOR of new appointments and then quickly browse account activity surrounding the opportunity using the mobile WWW interface -- all without waiting for a laptop computer to fire up and synchronize with headquarters.

"We're pleased to be teaming up with Scopus," said Kris Hoopes, Business Development Manager, Wireless Data at Nokia Mobile Phones. "Together, we can leverage Scopus' market leadership and expertise in the enterprise customer care market to help drive market acceptance and deployment of the leading wireless digital technologies such as GSM (Global Systems for Mobile Communications) throughout the Americas."

"This is an exciting opportunity for Scopus," said Jeff Bork, vice-president of marketing at Scopus. "With Nokia, we are taking enterprise customer care to new levels of mobility and convenience. Organizations can further empower their customer care professionals with quick access to real-time views of critical customer data that drive new business. We're very pleased to be working with Nokia to offer our mutual customers a solution that can literally fit into their pockets."

Scopus Mobilization with the Nokia 9000i COMMUNICATOR Scopus customers will soon be able to take advantage of the many innovative capabilities found in the Nokia 9000i COMMUNICATOR, combined with new kinds of mobile applications. Scopus has taken advantage of SMS (Short Messaging Service), a method for sending messages in GSM networks. Through Nokia Smart Messaging concept, used in the NOKIA 9000i COMMUNICATOR and Scopus products, end users will receive dynamic notifications regarding sales information such as new contacts, schedule changes, and updated account information. This type of "push technology" liberates the sales or service representative from constantly "polling" the system, enabling them to simply get notified when something has changed. Because SMS offers guaranteed delivery, there's no wondering whether or not the message reached the intended target.

Sales representatives will be able to use the NOKIA 9000i COMMUNICATOR to check on leads, account activity and appointments -- all in a single, convenient package. Using the built-in Nokia 9000i COMMUNICATOR WWW browser, sales professionals can quickly gather the latest in customer information or search for updated pricing and product availability data. In addition, prospect contact information can be quickly entered and dispatched for immediate follow-up by in-house telesales reps -- with confirmation instantly communicated back to the field.

Mobile service professionals can likewise utilize the power of this innovative new mobile computing power to check on the status of orders, parts replacement, appointment schedules and customer complaints. Using the built-in Nokia 9000i COMMUNICATOR WWW browser, service reps will be able to search for resolutions to common product issues and file updates to support situations -- all without having to synchronize with headquarters -- anytime, anywhere.
