We selected the projects based not only on their main idea and the possibilities of its application, but also according to the team behind the project,' said Felix Geyr, Director Strategy & Business Development at Telefonica Czech Republic which provides an umbrella to the Wayra programme in the Czech Republic. 'Iam looking forward to seeing their products come to market in the near future,' added Felix Geyr.

The main goal of the new Wayra accelerator is to support innovative technology projects. The winning teams will not only get premises and support from the Wayra Academy, but also access to 300 million customers of the Telefonica Group all over the world and up to EUR 50,000. This all is in exchange for a minority stake in the company.

The Wayra Academy will soon move into the adapted premises in the newly constructed Diamant building in the lower part of Wenceslas Square.
