San Leon Energy(AIM:SLE), an international group of companies focused on the exploration and production of oil and gas projects in Europe and North Africa, has spud the Szymkowo-1 well on its Szczawno Concession in the Baltic Basin, Poland.

The well is operated by Talisman Energy Poland and is designed to test the deep, unconventional gas potential of the Lower Silurian, Ordovician and Upper Cambrian.

This is the third well in the initial three-well programme with Talisman in the Baltic Basin.
