PSA Peugeot Citroen, a France-based automaker, has revealed details of its new Efficient Modular Platform, called the EMP2.

The platform will underpin the vast majority of the company's new vehicles and is designed to be equipped with a transversally mounted engine. It can be offered with a rear axle to underpin all-wheel drive vehicles, or with an electric motor to serve as the basis for cars powered by the automaker's HYbrid4 system.

The platform will be utilised in production form in the second generation Peugeot 308, which is to be launched at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show scheduled for March 2014.
