Travel Business Review - 23 February 2011

OpenTravel Alliance, a US-based non-profit organisation focused on smooth flow of traveller and supplier information flow, has announced launch of an airline merchandising project.

The new project aims to produce new XML messages and improve existing messages for sustaining merchandising functionality for airlines and their distribution partners.

Valyn Perini, the company executive director, said, 'OpenTravel heard from its members that we needed to augment our existing airline messages by including merchandising functionality. Our goal is to provide the tools airlines, technology providers and distributors need today to meet the rapidly evolving needs of the companies that use our messages, and to continually add value to our members and to the industry.'
