Global Banking News - 11 March 2011

Japan-based Nomura Holdings, Inc (NYSE: NMR) is looking to sell Japanese restaurant chain, Skylark Co, to US private equity firm, Bain Capital LLC.

The deal, worth about JPY280bn, could be one of the largest private-equity purchases of a Japanese company.

The negotiations are said to be in the final stages. The buyout unit of the company, Nomura Principal Finance, invested in Skylark in 2006 through a management buyout with UK private equity firm, CVC Capital Partners. It now owns 78.6 per cent in the restaurant chain.
