Japan-based diversified industrial group Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (TYO.7011)(MHI) has secured an order to supply an inaugural fuel efficient LNG carrier to shipping company Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (TYO.9101)(NYK).

MHI is to deliver the 123,000 gross tonnage vessel in 2014. Financial details of the order have not been revealed.

MHI has said the carrier will be the first ever to benefit from its 15 percent more fuel efficient 'MHI Ultra Steam Turbine Plant'.
