Lexus, a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE: TM) (LSE: TYT) (TYO: 7203), is expanding its GS executive car range to include a new more affordable petrol-electric hybrid vehicle.

The new model is to be equipped with a four-cylinder unit. It will offer sub-100g/km CO2 emissions and improved economy.

The vehicle is to compete with the BMW 520d Efficient Dynamics. It is to be launched in the second half of 2013.
